1. Group Therapy
Group therapy includes a series on healing emotions and anger management, pastoral narrative therapy, and life skills training. We encourage group activities such as meditation (self talk), walking on daily basis or through any exciting games. On Thursdays Pastor Ronny will take the group to Inkwelo Resort for the whole day The group therapy program will be facilitated by myself and a specialist psychiatric nurse.
2. Health Education
The nursing staff offer health education sessions to inform clients of the medical aspects.
3. Individual Therapy
Clients have individual therapy sessions throughout the program, and often continue with individual therapy following discharge.
4. Art Therapy/Occupational therapy
This is incorporated into the program to assist clients in strengthening their identities of hope and creative art projects. This unit is run by qualified occupational therapist.
5. Family Therapy
Families of our clients are invited to attend family therapy sessions. This helps family members to gain insight into their loved one’s experiences, and for everyone to understand the nature of the problem.
6. Music -Relaxation
Music is used for its positive effects on people and to encourage relaxation and fun.
7. Exercise/Movement therapy
Clients are encouraged to do muscle relaxation with every group therapy but further on they have to do exercises which assists with physical recovery of the body. Clients are taught in each session to execute some complex movements, which increases physical strength, builds muscles, and results in the trust of the body’s ability to balance and rely on itself. Furthermore, clients gain confidence in themselves following the execution of fine and complex movements during sessions.
8. Spiritual counselling/support
Spiritual growth is one of the corner-stone of any therapy. This service is offered by Pastor Ronny, reputable priest and a couch counsellor.
9. Boating
This is a powerful therapy that allows clients a chance to break free from constraints of office or classroom treatment sessions. It enables participants to take part in experiential methods that provide learning and healing through first hand practice instead of the classroom fashion of merely talking and listening. This learning develops a balance in life to deal with your emotions and equips one to overcome challenges by developing mindfulness to be able to make rational decisions.
One is able to build unique skills that will help one to cope with most of life challenges and the difficulties of everyday living. One’s bottled emotions through addiction come into the surface freely and the person gets to realize his\her needs and fears that addiction has masked from view. One eventually gets connected to the deeper self as it gives whole-person healing of body, mind and spirit for a complete recovery.
