We provide psychological treatment that assist people with addictions, emotional, behavioral and mental challenges by providing tools that help them take control and be happy individuals. In our working methods, we give special attention in addressing emotional, behavioral and mental problems; as well as their root cause. Newcastle Psychological Treatment Centre uses world class methods for treatment. The service is provided by a team of individuals that are experts in their fields with many years of experience. The Centre is managed by Dr Ndlovu, who alone has over 30 years of experience. Dr Ndlovu holds the following degrees: BA, BA Honours, MA in Clinical Psychology, PhD in Community Psychology.

More about Dr Ndlovu

His qualifications enable him to assess, diagnose and treat mental, emotional and behavioural disorders through interviews, psycho-diagnostic tests, counselling and psychotherapy, research and clinical observations.  


He has the following work experience: 


1992-1993: He worked as an Intern Clinical Psychologist rotating at King George V Hospital, King Edward VIII Hospital and Addington Hospital. 


1994-1998: He worked as a Clinical Psychologist at Madadeni Hospital and got accredited by the Psychological Board in the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) to select, train and write Interns Duty Certificates in collaboration with the University of Zululand Psychology Training Programme. He was involved in selecting, training and examining psychology student who are pursuing the Medically Applied Psychology Masters Degree. 


1998-2002: He got promoted to the Senior Clinical Psychologist and Head of the Sub-Department of Medically Applied Psychology Unit in the Psychiatry Department at Madadeni Hospital. 


2002 to date: He is working as a Clinical Psychologist in Private Practice. His whole experience in the psychology profession has been in teaching/ training/ applying psychology at the University level and at the Hospital setting. 


Since 2010 he has been assisting with assessment and treatment in the NRGP (National Responsible Gamblers Programme), Incon Health Employee Wellness Programme and Universal Healthcare Administrators Programme for Workplace Wellness. He is a member of Newcastle Practitioners Organization (NEPO) as well as a member of the Board of Addiction Professionals in South Africa (BAPSA).

We have a well established partnerships with the local government’s departments, i.e. health, education, SA Police, correctional services and Social Services.

Most of the local general practitioners have been advising and encouraging us to extent our services for a more holistic Treatment Centre and we have their full support.
